Woman Airlifted Off Cape Cod After Crash

A 23-year-old woman was airlifted off Cape Cod after being seriously injured in a crash Saturday afternoon.

The victim, a resident of Falmouth, Massachusetts, struck a utility pole on Hatchville Road in town. Police responded shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The pole fell over the roadway, held up by the power lines, while paramedics worked to free the driver from the car.

The driver was taken to Falmouth Hospital and then transported by MedFlight helicopter to another facility.

The incident caused power outages in the area. Eversource was working Saturday evening to repair the pole.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the crash. There was no immediate word on the woman's condition.
