Man Driving Wrong Way on State Highway Charged With OUI

A Massachusetts driver was arrested Sunday after allegedly driving the wrong way on a state highway.

Police received multiple calls around 4:30 a.m. Sunday warning of a driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 3 in Chelmsford.

A trooper located the suspect and used tire deflation devices when the driver failed to stop. The driver continued to drive the 2005 Cadillac Escalade on the car's rims, however, before eventually stopping in Burlington where he was taken into custody.

Police identified the suspect as David McNee, 55, of Wilmington and charged him with driving the wrong way on a state highway, operating under the influence of liquor, marked lanes violations, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of a property damage.

McNee was brought into Concord barracks for booking and will be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Monday. It is unclear if McNee has an attorney.
