Xander Bogaerts Placed on 10-Day Disabled List

Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a crack in his left ankle.

The team said a small crack in Bogaerts' talus bone was discovered following an X-ray on Sunday and an MRI on Monday. He is expected to miss approximately 10 to 14 days.

To fill Bogaerts' spot on the roster, the Red Sox will recall infielder Tzu-Wei Lin from Pawtucket on Tuesday.

Bogaerts was off to a hot start to the 2018 season, batting .368 with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs to help lead the Sox to an 8-1 record.
