Balloons filled in the sky in Brockton, Massachusetts, Saturday evening, as the community continues to mourn the loss of two brothers who died following a car crash last week in Randolph.

“They did everything together. Football. Everything. So they’re with each other together right now so I’ve got to take solace in that," said Terry Boston Sr., who lost his two sons, 15-year-old Terry and 18-year-old Mahki after a tragic car accident Tuesday night.

"We're just going to live for the boys," said Terry Boston Sr.'s sister, Tashawna Boston. "They would have wanted this."

The brothers' aunt is now looking out for her own brother as he mourns the death of his two sons.

Dozens gathered to celebrate the lives of two brothers killed in a recent crash in Randolph.

Randolph police responded to the crash in the area of 701 North Main Street around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a Nissan Altima had left the roadway and collided with a tree, killing Terry Boston Jr. His brother Mahki, who was driving, was taken to Boston Medical Center by medical helicopter and admitted to intensive care. Authorities announced Thursday morning Mahki had died from his injuries.

“I said to him before he went that thank God he went with his brother, because he was his brother's keeper. And I think it’s my job now to be my brother's keeper, and make sure he gets through this," Tashawna Boston said. "Because this wasn’t easy and our family has a long way to go.”

Hundreds of people gathered for the vigil Saturday night wearing commemorative shirts, holding candles and standing alongside the family and the boys' mother, Zakia Boston.

“We’ve always had a village," said Zakia. "We just added to our village. We came from a village. We were always together. From day one. So we are adding to our village.”

Brockton Public Schools superintendent said Thursday that Mahki had just graduated this year from the high school, while Terry Jr. was a rising sophomore.

"These were two young people whose positive influence extended far beyond the walls of our school building," Michael Thomas wrote in a statement. "It is difficult to express the profound sense of loss felt within our city. We will come together as a community to support their loved ones and honor their lives."

Two female passengers were also injured in the crash. The extent of their injuries and their names and ages have not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Randolph and state police, along with the district attorney's office.
