A U.S. Coastguard helicopter rescued an injured fisherman 60 miles off of Martha’s Vineyard on Friday, officials said.
The call came in around 6 p.m. from a commercial fishing vessel named Persistence, according to a Coast Guard news release. A 50-year-old member of the crew was showing stroke-like symptoms.
A Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter was able to safely hoist the fisherman from the ship at 7:30 p.m. The man was flown to Providence Hospital for treatment, officials said.
