Airbnb will cooperate with Boston's short-term rental registry, which requires people renting out their homes through apps to register with the city, Mayor Marty Walsh said Thursday.
Airbnb had been battling with Boston in court over the city ordinance passed last year.
Under the settlement announced Thursday, Airbnb will remove listings from its site that Boston says violate its short-term rental rules and share those rules with hosts, who will also have a way to share the registration number they get from Boston. That number will be displayed on listings by Dec. 1.

The short-term rental giant also agreed to share data about listings with the city, Walsh's office said.
Walsh's goal has been a "balance between preserving housing and allowing Bostonians to benefit from this new industry," he said in a statement, adding that he was pleased to reach the settlement.
Under the short-term rental ordinance, hosts pay an annual fee of $25 if renting out a private room or shared space or $200 if renting out an apartment or home.
An Airbnb representative said the San Francisco-based company's goal was to find a path forward for home sharing in Boston.
