The summer-like warmth continued today with quite a few different locations reporting record-heat. The warmth has set countless records this week, particularly across Northern New England. In both Burlington, Vermont and Concord, New Hampshire a heat wave was achieved. That’s three consecutive days of 90+ highs. In each case it was the latest heat wave ever recorded. In Concord the old record has stood since 1895, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold front will approach late today and tonight, perhaps sparking a spot shower or storm, but more importantly bringing more clouds. Those clouds, and a few showers, will linger into early Thursday, before sunshine returns with a cooling breeze during the afternoon.
Highs will be in the 70s with dropping humidity as we transition to our new air mass.
The cooler air is here in force on Friday, with highs in the 50s and 60s under mostly sunny skies.
A weak clipper drops into New England on Saturday, starting the weekend with a few clouds and showers, but during the day more sun will return. That sun will stick around into Sunday, but it stays cool with highs both days in the 50s and 60s. Lows overnight will be in the 30s and 40s for many!
While next week starts on that same cool note, temperatures will warm back into the 70s by mid-week.
