A shelter in place has been lifted at a Massachusetts school Tuesday morning following an armed robbery in which a man stole drugs from a nearby CVS Pharmacy at gunpoint.
Andover Public Schools said the shelter in place for Doherty Middle School was instituted after a thief brandished a gun at the pharmacy and took off with narcotics in a trash bag.
The robbery took place at about 7:30 a.m. at a CVS Pharmacy on Main Street, according to police.
The thief is described as standing at about 6 feet tall and wore a black hoodie, police said. He escaped from the scene through the back door of the building, according to officials.
The investigation is ongoing.
