Arrest Made in Connection With Armed Home Invasion in Hyde Park

Boston Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed home invasion in Hyde Park, according to officials.

Police say Thiago Oliveira, 28, of Hyde Park was arrested after he allegedly forced his way inside an apartment and attempted to shoot a resident on Saturday afternoon.

While responding to the area, police encountered Oliveira, who fled from the scene on Neponset Avenue in a vehicle, according to authorities.

As the police investigation continued, officers received a call about a found firearm that they believe Oliveira discarded. Police secured the weapon, which they say matched the description provided by the victim.

Police say they tracked Oliveira, who was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet as a result of a present probation, and subsequently arrested the suspect without incident.

Police charged Oliveira with armed home invasion, assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and various auto law violations. He is expected in West Roxbury District Court.

It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
