Arrest Made in Connection with Package Thefts

Police have arrested a man in connection with a slew of package thefts across Brookline and Brighton. 

Brookline police say Juan Guillermo, 37, of Lawrence, posed as a food delivery driver to steal packages from entryways of homes. 

An off-duty police officer reportedly spotted Guillermo enter the vestibule of an apartment complex on Beacon Street in Brookline Thursday afternoon and place a delivered package inside his Grubhub-labeled delivery shoulder bag. 

Guillermo reportedly told responding officers he worked for the food delivery companies Grubhub and DoorDash. 

According to police, no resident in the complex requested food delivery from either company that day. According to police, Guillermo used a screwdriver to enter the building. Police also found numerous Amazon delivered packages inside his van. 

Guillermo is facing multple theft-related charges, and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
