Authorities ID Missing Swimmer Found Off Coast of Truro, Mass.

The 26-year-old man was last seen near the shore at Ballston Beach in Truro

Authorities have recovered the body of a man who went missing while swimming at a Cape Cod beach on Saturday.

Ross Williamson, 26, of Bolton, Connecticut was found around 7:40 a.m. Sunday, one mile north of Ballston Beach in Truro, Massachusetts.

Williamson was reported missing from the waters of Ballston Beach at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, where he had been swimming with his mother and was said to be in distress.

A response boat crew from the Provincetown Coast Guard station and an air crew from the Cape Cod Air Station responded.

A Massachusetts State Police helicopter, the Truro Police Department, and a dive team from the Sandwich Fire Department also assisted.

The Coast Guard had searched the waters Saturday for the missing man, but suspended those efforts at night before resuming Sunday morning.

An autopsy is scheduled, but authorities say the death appears to be accidental.

Police say Truro's oceanside beaches were closed to swimming until further notice.

State police and the National Park Service are investigating the incident.
