Authorities have released the name of the man reportedly found dead near a playground in Lynn, Massachusetts.
According to the Essex District Attorney's Office, 29-year-old Tito Lopez-Elbanks' body was discovered at about 2:10 p.m. last Thursday by a dog walker near the area of Frey Park near Oak Street, just steps away from a playground and baseball field. Authorities say his body had been burned.
"You worry about the coyotes that might come out but never finding a dead body," Marie Barone, a Lynn resident, said.
Authorities identified the body as Lopez-Elbanks on Saturday morning. His body was burned so badly, according to officials, that it took extra time to properly identify him.
A makeshift memorial at the base of a burnt tree has been established, with a boquet of flowers and a bottle of Hennessey's current marking the ground in Lopez-Elbanks' memory.
The grisly discovery left Lynn residents shocked and disturbed.
"This is probably one of the worst things I've heard from in Lynn for a long time," one resident said.
