39-year-old Jeremy Keiran, of Somerville, Mass., died Friday after striking another skier

Authorities have released the name of the two skiers involved in a fatal collision at Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire.

According to New Hampshire State Police, 39-year-old Jeremy Keiran, of Somerville, Mass., was skiing down the Profile Trail on Cannon Mountain on Friday when he lost control and was thrown from his skis. Keiran slid through a roped off area at the end of that trail and then off an embankment, according to police.

Authorities said he then struck Robert Slocum, 48, of Newburyport, Mass., who was skiing on the Middle Ravine Trail.

Keiran died as a result of his injuries. Slocum was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities say Slocum is expected to survive.
