Child Pulled From Water at Gloucester Beach Has Died: Essex DA

A 6-year-old boy who was pulled from the water at a beach in Gloucester, Massachusetts has died, authorities said.

While the cause of death is still unknown, it appears to be a medically-related event, according to the Essex District Attorney.

Firefighters and police officers responded to Good Harbor beach at 5:11 p.m. on Saturday and found a boy around 5 years old who had been removed from the water, said Gloucester Police Chief Edward Conley.

The boy, who is from Moscow, Russia, had been removed from the water by his grandfather, Essex officials said.

The child was transported by ambulance to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester. He was pronounced dead later Saturday evening.
