A B-17 bomber, similar to the one that crashed in Connecticut, is spending the weekend in Massachusetts.
The Cape Cod Times reports aviation enthusiasts lined up Saturday at the Barnstable Municipal Airport to see the B-17 owned by the Experimental Aircraft Association. The Wisconsin-based association continues offering tours at the airport Sunday, but isn't offering passenger flights out of respect for those connected to the tragedy.
Seven people were killed when a B-17 owned by the Collings Foundation, an educational group in Massachusetts, crashed and burned Wednesday after taking off from Bradley International Airport.
The pilot reported an engine problem, turned back to the airport and touched down before crashing.
Rex Gray, of the Experimental Aircraft Association, says it was important to visit Massachusetts to tell the World War II generation's story.
