A 34-year-old Belchertown man has died in a motorcycle accident after a collision on Route 181 in Belchertown at about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Police said the man, who was driving a motorcycle southbound on Mill Valley Road, appeared to have lost control of the vehicle while passing several cars "at a high rate of speed around a bend."
The motorcycle crossed over the yellow line and collided with an oncoming vehicle in the northbound lane. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The incident remains under investigation by Belchertown Police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office and MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
