Biden Answers Questions at NH Town Hall

Former Vice President Joe Biden answered voters' questions Friday at a town hall in Laconia, New Hampshire.

"What are you going to do about dark money in politics?" asked one Laconia resident, a woman named Bernadette.

Biden's answer came quickly.

"Number one, take none of it. Number two, end it," he replied.

After decades in politics, Biden knows how to answer the town hall questions from campaign finance to undocumented immigrants.

"We should get them out of the shadows," he said.

But for many of these New Hampshire voters, in this presidential cycle, policy is taking second place to electability.

Bob Joseph stood up and loudly declared, "I am a member of the ABT club — anybody but Trump."

Former Gov. John Lynch was one of the first to board the Biden train.

"I trust Joe Biden completely," he said. "I like him a lot and I think he can beat Donald Trump."

And that sums up the attraction for many Biden supporters. He may not have the boldness of Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren, the youth of Pete Buttigieg or the diversity of Kamala Harris or Cory Booker. But many, like Mark Haynes, feel that this is his time because of his experience.

"I know you're going to ask me about the gaffes. And I really don't care," Haynes said.

"I think Joe Biden has the most ability to be able to bring this country back together," said Pat Williams of Alton.

That is why Biden seems to resonate most, not when talking about a 10 point plan, but when letting voters know the tone he would bring to the Oval Office.

"We have to be the America that once again values honesty, values decency, treating everyone with dignity and respect," he said. "Giving everyone a fair shot."

Biden's trip to New Hampshire continues through Saturday when he will be one of the opening speakers at the state's Democratic Party convention.
