Blackstone Man Convicted in Father's Murder

Testimony in the trial of a Massachusetts man charged with fatally beating and suffocating his 83-year-old father is scheduled to get underway

A Massachusetts man charged with fatally beating and suffocating his 83-year-old father was found guilty Thursday.

Glenn Armstrong, who once served prison time for threatening to kill then-President Bill Clinton, was convicted of murder in the January 2017 death of Walter Armstrong, who was found on the floor of his Blackstone home with a trash bag over his head.

"I hope the family of Walter Armstrong can find some measure of closure from this verdict," Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said in a statement.

Prosecutors say the younger man also stole his father's pickup truck and drove it to New Jersey, where he was apprehended.

The 50-year-old Glenn Armstrong was sentenced to 21 months in prison for threatening to kill Clinton in 1994.

His attorneys say he has a history of mental illness.
