Boston Gearing Up for Caribbean Carnival

Boston’s Caribbean community will be celebrating its culture this weekend with the Caribbean Carnival.

Mayor Marty Walsh said at a press conference Friday afternoon that officials are working to ensure everyone has a safe and fun event.

He said that people should be aware of suspicious activity and reach out to police if necessary.

Attendees are encourages to take public transportation as there will be street closures.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said there will be extra police on the streets for the event.

The event will feature Caribbean music, costumes and cuisine. The event takes place at Franklin Park Zoo. Admission is free.
