Boston Implements Restrictions to Help Ensure Safety During Super Bowl

Boston police are asking for area students to celebrate responsibly during Super Bowl Sunday and have put restrictions in place to help ensure that it happens.

Commissioner William Evans said in a letter Friday that officials are excited for the Patriots, but will have parking and pedestrian restrictions in place on Feb. 4.

The parking restrictions will cover streets around the Brighton area, Kenmore Square, Northeastern, Faneuil Hall and North Station areas.

Kenmore Square, Boylston and Hemenway streets will have pedestrian restrictions beginning at 6 p.m. Police will also have extra patrols at license premise locations.

Evans said students who cause significant trouble will have their names shared with their respective Dean of Students.

People celebrating the game are asked to be aware of their surroundings, to not wear headphones and to not wear dark clothing.

"Keep in mind that you all play a role in our effort to ensure that the City of Boston is a shining example of stellar sports teams and their fans," said Evans. "Go Pats!"
