Boston Pride Announces NBC10 Boston as 2018 Official Broadcast Partner

Boston Pride announced Monday that NBC10 Boston is returning as the official broadcast partner of Pride programming and events during "Boston Pride Week 2018,” which will be held from June 1 to June 10.

Last year was the first time that Boston Pride had partnered with a major broadcast television station for the week-long celebration. This year’s Boston Pride Parade theme is "Rainbow Resistance."

To celebrate the weeklong celebration, NBC10 Boston, necn and Telemundo Boston will air special programming, participate in Pride events and report the latest news about "Boston Pride Week" in their newscasts.

"We welcome back NBC10 Boston to Boston Pride’s family of partners. We had a tremendously rewarding experience working with NBC10 Boston last year which was the first time that we’ve had a major television station in Boston commit so strongly to working with the LGBTQ community," said Sylvain Bruni, president of Boston Pride. "We are looking forward to developing special programming with NBC10 Boston to raise awareness about LGBTQ issues and tell the stories about our community to a wide audience."

In 2017, NBC10 Boston had a large marching contingent in the Boston Pride Parade of LGBTQ employees and their allies and their signature "Weather Warrior" vehicle.

"We applaud NBC10 Boston for having such a strong presence in the 2017 Pride Parade, which shows that the television station is committed to supporting their LGBTQ employees and allies," Bruni said.

"The response from our partnership and coverage of Boston Pride has been overwhelming," said Mike St. Peter, general manager and president of NBC10 Boston, necn and Telemundo Boston. "We are once again committed to supporting the LGBTQ community this year and we stand in solidarity with Boston Pride to help promote equality and inclusion throughout our community."

Boston Pride Week 2018 will kick-off with the Pride flag raising on City Hall Plaza on Friday, June 1 and continue with events throughout the week, concluding with the annual Boston Pride Parade and Festival on Saturday, June 9 and Pride Block Parties on Sunday June 10 in the Back Bay and Jamaica Plain. The parade’s theme, "Rainbow Resistance" reflects the current political climate and redoubles the need for the diverse groups that encompass the LGBTQ community to stand together.

Boston Pride, an all-volunteer organization, has worked for 48 years to produce and support programming that includes the entire spectrum of the local LGBTQ community. Its flagship program, Boston Pride Week, includes large scale events like the annual Pride Parade and Festival, the largest annual public event in New England. Boston Pride also organizes a multitude of events specifically for youth, seniors, communities of color (with Black Pride and Latinx Pride) and more. Boston Pride is the publisher of the Boston Pride Guide, a premium and free community magazine, as well as the funder of the Community Fund, a grant-based program that financially supports grassroots organization in our community.
