Boy Dies After Being Pulled From Water in Clinton

A boy has died after being pulled from the water Tuesday in Clinton, Massachusetts.

Police were called to Blueberry Island on South Meadow Pond shortly before 5 p.m. after the boy was reported missing. He was pulled from the water and taken to Clinton Hospital.

Clinton Public Schools confirmed to NBC10 Boston that freshman Rafael Perez had passed away.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Clinton High School Freshman Rafael Perez," Superintendent Steven Meyer said in a statement Tuesday night. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time. Clinton High School is open this evening for students, staff and community members who wish to come together to grieve this tragic event."

Meyer added that the high school would have additional guidance staff on hand the following morning to provide support for students and staff.
