New England

Brief Showers to Interrupt Beautiful Stretch of Weather

Beautiful weather continues Wednesday, building off of what has been a fantastic stretch across New England. There are two brief speed bumps ahead, however.

The first is an area of low pressure that is currently sliding up the coast. That will graze by Cape Cod, and the Maine coast, Wednesday night into very early Thursday morning. While spotty showers in that area will be hit-or-miss, clouds and fog will be fairly widespread around eastern New England during that time.

During the day on Thursday, morning fog and clouds will depart as sunshine returns. Highs will pump into the 60s and 70s for most.

Meanwhile, after starting with sunshine during the morning in western New England, clouds will return during the afternoon with some showers and storms. That happens as a cold front nears.

Those hit-or-miss showers will spread towards the coastline Thursday night.

The front then sweeps offshore, allowing in nice weather for Friday. Highs will reach the 50s and 60s in northern New England, with 60s to near 70 south.

That front wobbles back into New England on Saturday, providing the focus for periods of rain during the day. It’'l be cool, too, with highs in the 50s and 60s.

Right now, it appears as though that band of rain will sag south on Sunday for Mother's Day. That means while there still may be some early showers, especially far south, much of the day should be dry.

We'll have to watch that weekend forecast carefully, though, so check back for more specifics and updates.
