Sheriff's Office Releases Mysterious Update About Michelle Carter

Law enforcement officials in Massachusetts gave a mysterious update Friday night about the woman found guilty in a controversial texting suicide case.

The Bristol County Sheriff's Office said that Michelle Carter is still in the custody of the Bristol County Sheriff's Office, but that she is not currently at a correctional facility in the county.

The sheriff's office said it would not immediately provide any further information about Carter's whereabouts or the circumstances of her move.

Carter was convicted in 2017 of involuntary manslaughter in the 2014 death of her boyfriend, Conrad Roy III. In a series of texts, Carter encouraged Roy's suicide.

Carter began serving a 15-month sentence in February.

An appeal was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court this month on Carter's behalf.
