Brown University Employee Accused of Stalking, Planting GPS Device Under Ex-Girlfriend's Car

Brown University laboratory manager Tu Le is expected to appear in court on Thursday for a dangerousness hearing after he pleaded not guilty to multiple charges

A Brown University employee accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend and secretly planting a GPS device under her vehicle will appear in a Massachusetts courtroom Thursday.

The Sun Chronicle reports 43-year-old Tu Le of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, was arrested Saturday night after police investigated claims that the medical lab researcher was stalking a middle school teacher in Mansfield.

Le and the victim reportedly dated for a year before the woman ended the relationship due to the suspect’s controlling behavior. The suspect would allegedly show up invited to the woman’s dates with other men and when she was with friends despite there being a restraining order, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Increasingly becoming suspicious of his actions, the woman reportedly had her car reviewed and a GPS device was recovered from under her vehicle.

Police reportedly attached the device to one of their cruisers at a hotel in Mansfield to see if Le would show up, and Le was stopped on Route 106 after an officer saw the suspect leave the hotel.

Officials reportedly found two more GPS devices at the time of Le’s arrest.

Brown University confirmed it has an employee named Tu Le who has worked as a laboratory manager since 2017 at the school. The university declined to comment further.

Le reportedly was held without bail after he pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges that included stalking, four counts of breaking and entering and one count of trespassing. He is due back in Attleboro District Court on Thursday for a dangerousness hearing.
