Bus Stop Pub in Allston Is Apparently Closing

by Marc Hurwitz

It looks like yet another dive bar is shutting down.

According to an events page on Facebook, the Bus Stop Pub in Allston is closing, with a farewell party being set up for April 21 at the Western Avenue watering hole. Both the discussion on the events page and a Twitter thread indicate that its closing may have something to do with Mugar Enterprises, as a bldup.com page shows that much of the property surrounding the bar is being set up for development by the company. It is not known whether April 21 is indeed the last day in operation for the Bus Stop Pub, so stay tuned.

A number of other dive bars in Boston have shut down over the past several years (with many being replaced by new development), including such spots as the Castlebar in Brighton; Lower Mills Pub and the Centre Bar in Dorchester; Aces High, the Cornerstone Pub, and the Quencher Tavern in South Boston; and the Drinking Fountain in Jamaica Plain.

The address for the Bus Stop Pub is 252 Western Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.
