22-Year-Old Arrested in Connection to Violent Home Invasion

A Massachusetts man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion where the assailants pistol-whipped an elderly man.

Eirberto Genao, 22, of Boston's Mattapan neighborhood was arrested Thursday by Canton, Boston and Milton police. It's unclear what exact charges he faces or whether he has an attorney.

Canton police say Genao is one of the three suspects in a home invasion on Aboretum Way in Canton on July 18.

An elderly man was seriously injured after being pistol-whipped and his wife suffered a heart attack after being violently assaulted.

The victim’s daughter, who lives next door, told NBC Boston she buzzed the suspects into the building, because they told her they were new residents and didn’t have their key.

"Lots of yelling, lots of screaming, lots of fighting," described downstairs neighbor Jacqueline Saunders after the incident. "Sounded like they were running back and forth throughout the apartment."

No other suspects have been arrested in connection with the home invasion.

Police previously said this attack is likely connected to a similar incident in Boston.

Anyone with information is asked to call Canton Police Sgt. Paul Gallagher at 781-828-1212 or Boston Police at 617-343-4328.
