Police are asking for the public's help identifying the suspect in a stabbing of a waitress outside a restaurant in Chelsea, Massachusetts on Monday night.
In a tweet Tuesday night, Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes said the police department is requesting the public's help "in clarifying the suspect's true identity."
Officials released the suspect's photo, saying he is facing a charge of armed assault with intent to murder. It's not immediately clear if the suspect will face additional charges.
The stabbing happened around 11 p.m. near Washington Avenue and Blossom Street.
The victim, identified only as a woman in her early 30s, was working her shift as a waitress at the Las Pupusas Del Chino when a man skipped out on his $100 bill right before closing time.
The man told the waitress he had money in his car. When the victim followed him outside, a coworker said he saw the pair struggle and then the waitress jumped into the car to avoid being hit when the suspect put the car in reverse.
The waitress, who is described as a hard worker, was found a block away with slashes to her neck and right hand. The suspect then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and returned home Tuesday morning where she is resting after being treated for her injuries.
"It was something really awful," restaurant manager Gilberto Ramos said. "They showed me some pictures of what happened. I feel really bad for her and her family."

Tuesday evening, police released surveillance footage of the car they say was involved. The footage shows a red sedan, possibly a Nissan with Colorado plates reading "GAQ633."
Police have not yet made an arrest but said the waitress is helping them narrow in on a suspect. They are also looking at surveillance footage.
"They say he has been in the restaurant in the past," police Capt. Keith Hougton said. "That's what detectives are following up on. Trying to get a definitive name on him."
