Perdue Recalls Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets Over Possible Contamination

Consumers complained of small, solid and clear plastic inside the Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets.

Perdue Foods has recalled approximately 4,530 pounds of Applegate chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with plastic materials, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The chicken nuggets were produced for Applegate Farms on Sept. 28, 2015.

The company is recalling 8-oz. boxed packages of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets containing approximately 18 pieces with a best before date of Sept. 27, 2016.

The packages have the number “P-2617” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail distribution centers in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas.

Consumers complained of small, solid and clear plastic inside the Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets, according to USDA. 

Although there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions after consumption, anyone who may have concern for injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers should throw away the chicken nuggets, return them to the place of purchase or contact Applegate Consumer Relations with questions at 1-866-587-5858.
