Clouds, Showers Slow to Clear; Thunderstorms Possible

For the second time in about a week, there's only one way for the temperature to go - that is up. And there's only one thing for the sky to do - that is brighten.

A storm at sea that largely missed to the south, and a front from Canada, which brought some rain to Northern New England, are merging east of New England this afternoon. The result is a mixture of sun and clouds with a spot shower or thunderstorm, temperatures holding in the 70s. Wind is light from the north, locally onshore. It's marginal beach weather at best.

Skies should clear out this evening offering a nice view of the just past full moon. Low temperatures tonight range from 45 to 55 north, 50s to low 69d south.

Quiet Week Ahead Before Potentially Stormy Weekend

Holy Cross Community Grieves Loss of Rower

The warming trend begins for real tomorrow with the good amount of sunshine, mixed with fair-weather clouds, high temperature in the 80s.

There's a weak front stalled near the Canadian border so we have a chance for a shower or thunderstorm both tomorrow and Thursday afternoon. Otherwise the weather looks pretty much the same right toward the weekend. A more significant weather system closes in on Friday and may slow down here for Saturday and Sunday.

So once again the forecast challenge is, how much sunshine this weekend? We'll call it a 50-50 blend of sunshine and clouds with temperatures in the 70s Saturday and Sunday, afternoon showers and storms are likely, but not a washout.
