Cold Rushes Back

And you thought yesterday was warm.

Records were shattered all across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast today. Washington, D.C. hit the low 70s, 66 in NYC, Boston had 61 and 57 in Worcester.

Old Man Winter was reportedly in an outrage. He called for the immediate repeal of the warmth by sending a razor sharp cold front into the Northeast.

So here it comes folks. We're on the eve of the big changeup.

As it rolls in, the night will remain fairly mild - at least for January standards. Temps will only fall to the low 40s by morning as the showers depart. The warmth from the morning is all we'll have tomorrow. As the cold continues to pour in on a gusty northwest wind, temperatures will slump to the mid/upper 30s late.

Frigid air is on tap for Saturday morning as lows dip to the single digits and teens. In fact, we'll still be in the cellar Saturday afternoon as highs struggle to make the mid-20s.

That's about as cold as it will be for the entire 10 day period. Sunday's temps will recover to the mid-30s and Monday may be knocking on the door of 40 degrees. Thereafter, a true January thaw will extend into next week...along with a lot of unsettled weather.

Translated: more rain.
