The Connecticut Post Mall was closed early Thursday after multiple fights broke out, according to police.
Police said multiple teens were involved in fights in the mall Thursday. Milford police requested help from Connecticut State Police, Stratford and West Haven to manage the scene.
Reports of a shooting during the fights are unfounded, police said.
The mall is closed for the rest of the night, police said.
A mall spokesperson released the following statement:
"Just before 6:00 p.m. tonight, the mall was closed due to the large number of unattended juveniles disrupting The Post’s family-oriented business environment. Because the safety and security of our shoppers, employees and retailers is our top priority, we worked closely and in full cooperation with Milford PD and other local law enforcement to clear mall common areas. Stores with exterior entrances remained open, including Macy’s, Boscov’s, Target, Cinemark, Dave & Buster’s, LA Fitness, Dick’s, Bar Louie, Guacamole’s and Buffalo Wild Wings.
Connecticut Post Mall is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all our guests. We will continue to work diligently with local law enforcement to prevent future incidents. We are reviewing our policy regarding juvenile patrons and will make any necessary modifications needed to provide a safe and comfortable shopping environment."

One year ago to the day the same mall was closed early when roughly 200 people were involved in a fight there. At that time, several mall security suffered minor injuries and one juvenile was arrested.
A similar situation happened in Manchester in 2018, when four people were arrested after multiple fights broke out at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills.
This year, two malls in Connecticut instituted mandatory curfews for visitors under 18.
