Connecticut Remembers Fallen Trooper

The state is mourning the loss of a 49-year-old state trooper who died when his cruiser struck the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 on Thursday.

In five months, Trooper Kevin Miller would have celebrated 20 years on the job and been eligible for retirement, according to the Hartford Courant. He leaves behind a son and a daughter.

People brought flowers and prayed for the veteran trooper outside his former Troop C barracks in Tolland yesterday.

A state medical examiner says the trooper died from blunt trauma injuries to his head and torso after his cruiser struck the back of the trailer between exits 68 and 69 in Tolland early Thursday afternoon.

The stretch of highway was closed for eight hours while police accident specialists investigated the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
