Cooler Temps Arrive in Region, Sunshine Lingering for Most

After a summer like-day Sunday, cooler weather has moved into New England with highs in the 60s & 70s.

Monday, we start out with variable clouds but then eventually end up with sunshine. A dry stretch of weather is expected this week with just a slight chance of a shower around coastal Maine on Tuesday.

Canadian high pressure will remain in control until Thursday and then, as it moves east, our wind will shift to the southwest, allowing for the warmth to return just in time for the weekend. Highs Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be around 80 degrees.

The first day of fall arrives next Monday and as of now, temperatures will be in the 70s with a slight chance for a shower. A cold front will cross the region Monday night and it will bring cooler temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the tropics, Humberto continues to gain strength as it moves away from The Bahamas and heads towards Bermuda by Wednesday as a category two hurricane. The current forecast keeps it away from New England, but it could create some big waves this weekend along the beaches so keep that in mind.

This system could impact Nova Scotia Sunday. There’s another disturbance in the Eastern Atlantic that has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next day or two so we will continue to keep a close eye as this system develops and moves closer to the Caribbean.
