Authorities Probe 3-Alarm Fire That Destroyed Lawrence, Mass. Home

All 11 residents of the multi-family house are accounted for and unharmed

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a devastating fire that consumed a three-family home in Lawrence, Massachusetts this week.

The three-alarm blaze broke out just after 9 a.m. Wednesday at a home at 274 Haverhill St., where only a pile of rubble and debris remains. Flames could be seen coming from the home’s roof as firefighters fought through thick clouds of smoke to gain access to the fire.

A number of nearby homes had to be evacuated and cars were damaged due to falling debris. All 11 people who lived in the multi-family house managed to escape the fire unharmed.

"I was born and raised in that house, my whole childhood just gone," resident Andres Rodriguez said.

The blaze became so intense that crews were pulled from the building to battle the inferno from outside. One firefighter was hospitalized due to heat exhaustion, but he is expected to recover.

The investigation is ongoing.
