A person was shot at a Danvers, Massachusetts, trailer park and the shooter was taken into custody after being barricaded in a trailer, police said Monday.
U.S. Route 1 remained closed in the area, Massachusetts State Police said. They had asked the public to avoid the area, and the incident brought out a large police response, including a SWAT team.

The victim, who is female, was rushed to a hospital, according to police. She was in critical but stable condition at a Boston hospital as of Monday afternoon.
According to the Essex County District Attorney's Office, officers responded when the victim called 911 to report she'd been shot multiple times and had escaped to a neighbor's trailer. When officers got on scene the suspect fired at them through a window, the DA said.

The shooting was reported at 12:38 p.m., and the suspected gunman was contained inside a trailer by 1:24 p.m., police told NBC10 Boston. He was taken into custody at 2:11 p.m.
He has been identified as 62-year-old Joseph Hurley. He faces charges of armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. He is expected for arraignment in Salem District Court on Tuesday.
