Dead Great White Shark Washes Up on Cape Cod Beach

Researchers have been called in to take samples to figure out how the shark died

A dead great white shark washed up on the shores of Truro, Massachusetts, on Thursday morning.

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the dead shark, estimated to be about 9-feet long, was found in Pamet Harbor.

Researchers with the Division of Marine Fisheries and Northeast Fisheries Science Center have been called in to take samples to figure out how the shark died.

Swimming has been prohibited in Truro waters due to a number of shark sightings and since a man was bitten by a great white last week. The 61-year-old victim from New York, who suffered deep puncture wounds, has since been upgraded to good condition.
