Deadly Brookline Stabbing Came After Botched Drug Deal: Docs

Nicolas Kern's death is the first homicide in Brookline since 2006

The first homicide in Brookline in 13 years apparently stemmed from a botched drug deal, court documents show.

Singha Oeun was held without bail at his arraignment Thursday in the stabbing death of 20-year-old Nicolas Kern. A not guilty plea to a murder charge was entered on the suspect's behalf.

Kern was stabbed 10 times in Amory Park at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and died at the hospital.

The men knew each other and arraigned to meet so Kern could buy prescription pills, according to the police report. Kern was stabbed during a struggle.

Oeun said in social media messages to a relative that "he was intoxicated and try to rob me," and "No witnesses, relax," according to police

Kern's death is the first homicide in the Boston suburb since 2006.
