A Massachusetts delivery driver is recovering after she told police in Brockton she was attacked and robbed before two suspects took off in her vehicle Wednesday night.

Cafe Asia's owner said that the delivery driver suffered serious injuries to her head and eyes but is expected to be OK.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10 Boston she was delivering food to an address on Boundary Circle at about 9:30 p.m. when she said two men opened the door of her Toyota Camry and forced her outside.

The suspects allegedly hit the driver in the head before stealing her cash, cell phone, and wedding and engagement rings before taking off in her car. The victim was taken to an area hospital then to a hospital in Boston for further treatment.

Nearby resident John Gilmore said he was surprised something like this could happen in the area.

"We never have anything that happens in this neighborhood," Gilmore said. "It's a really quiet neighborhood."

Other residents are hoping for an arrest so they can rest easy.

"It's not comforting to know," said resident Cassie Emery. "That's never happened around here."

Police said the victim's car was recovered later that night but the suspects remain on the loose.

Authorities also said the incident is similar to two previous ones in the area.

Nine days earlier on Pleasantview Avenue, police said a pizza delivery driver was held up at gunpoint as he approached a home. In that incident, police said two young men pointed a gun at the delivery driver, stole his cell phone and keys, then took off in his vehicle.

A week before that incident another female victim was robbed at gunpoint while making a delivery to a residence on Howard Street. The victim's cell phone and wallet were stolen in that case.

Police arrested Damian Poindexter, 18, in connection with that case.

Anyone with information on either of the two other robberies and carjackings are asked to contact Brockton Police.
