Dog Attacks, Kills Another Dog at Callahan State Park in Framingham

A dog was killed after being attacked by another dog on Sunday afternoon at Callahan State Park in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Animal control responded to the park around 4 .m. after receiving reports that a large dog had attacked a small dog.

According to animal control officials, a Shih Tzu was with its dog sitter when it was attacked without provocation by a black Labrador mix. The black Lab was not licensed and is now in 10-day quarantine. The owner is expected to be cited.

News of the incident was posted Sunday on the Callahan Dog Owners Group's Facebook page. The nonprofit organization's mission is to provide a safe environment for dogs at the park.

"We will work with DCR [Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation] and make certain that all safeguards concerning the dog that caused this tragedy will be followed," Bob Cawley, president of Callahan Dog Owners Group posted on Facebook.
