Lawyers in Islamic Cemetery Case Continue Bickering

Even though the dispute surrounding plans to build a Muslim cemetery in a small Massachusetts town has been settled, lawyers on both sides continue to snipe at each other.

Gary Brackett, a lawyer for the town of Dudley, told The Boston Globe that the attorney for the Islamic Society of Greater Worcester used the case to unfairly malign the town as a haven for anti-Muslim bigotry.

Brackett says Islamic Society lawyer Jay Talerman asserted "that the entire citizenry and officials in the town of Dudley are tainted."

Talerman said Brackett threw up unnecessary bureaucratic road blocks and suggested he "invest in a good mirror and take a look" at what he did.

The Islamic Society said last week it was abandoning the Dudley site in favor of another site in Worcester.
