Dunkin' Donuts Halts 87-Cent Coffee Promotion Following Patriots Wins

Has the success of the New England Patriots over the years become too much to handle?

For Dunkin' Donuts stores in New England, apparently so. According to the Boston Globe, the coffee chain is discontinuing a promotion that offered 87-cent coffees the day after a Patriots win -- news many across the region were rudely awakened to Monday morning.

The Twitter account representing Dunkin' Donuts stores in the Boston area spent the morning confirming the news to disappointed patrons.

Dunkin' Donuts offered free coffee following Patriots wins as recently as the 2015 season. In 2016, the company changed the promotion to the $0.87 coffees -- a play on the number worn by star tight end Rob Gronkowski.
