Edelman Spikes Puck During Face-Off As Patriots Celebrate With Bruins

The Super Bowl champion Patriots paid a visit to TD Garden to share their revelry with the Bruins as they played the Islanders Tuesday night.

The Patriots, many of whom were sporting Bruins jerseys, were greeted by defenseman Zdeno Chara in the Bruins locker room before the game.

"Thank you guys so much for coming down," Chara said. "We are very happy you guys brought another championship to the city."

In a ceremonial pregame face-off, Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman broke from hockey protocol and rather than dropping the puck, reverted to his football instincts and spiked it.

Four years ago, after the Patriots won Super Bowl XLIX, tight end Rob Gronkowski also spiked the puck.

Earlier in the day, the Patriots celebrated with a Super Bowl victory parade in the city that was attended by an estimated 1.5 million people.

The Patriots beat the Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday.
