Kevin Garnett making a cameo in a new Adam Sandler movie wouldn't be all that surprising.
In-depth news coverage of the Greater Boston Area.
But the ex-Boston Celtics star doesn't just appear in Sandler's latest film. He's one of the main characters.
Here's the trailer for "Uncut Gems," a movie with a Christmas Day 2019 release date that stars Sandler as a jewelry store owner caught up in a tangled web of unpaid debts.
Yes, that's a Celtics championship ring about 15 seconds into the trailer. And yes, that's Garnett appearing on several occasions during the 2-minute, 17-second trailer.
That's no coincidence: The "Uncut Gems" IMDB page actually lists Garnett as one of the film's three stars, along with Sandler and Julia Fox.
Sandler's character runs a jewelry store that caters to athletes and celebrities, and Garnett stars as one of his featured clients. The ex-Celtics star even gave a recent interview about his big-screen appearance, calling it a "surreal experience."
The affable Garnett has hosted his own TV show (KG's Area 21), but this is his first serious foray into acting since he retired from the NBA in 2016.
Can KG find as much success in Hollywood as he did in the NBA? Let's just say anything is possible.
