Family of Boston Man Shot by Police Calling For Criminal Charges

Relatives were joined by activists at a candlelight vigil for 31-year-old Terrance Coleman who was shot by Boston Police on Sunday

The family of a man shot and killed by police in Boston are calling for the officers involved to face criminal charges.

Relatives were joined by activists at a candlelight vigil for 31-year-old Terrence Coleman who was shot by Boston Police on Sunday.

Police say Coleman attacked officers and EMTs with a knife when his mother, Hope Coleman, called for an ambulance. He had been sitting on the stoop for a few days and she was worried he would catch pneumonia.

Coleman had a history of mental illness.

His mother claims she witnessed the shooting and claims that her son was not armed when he was shot by police. Boston EMS officials claim that Coleman’s mother was outside of the building when officers fired.

The Suffolk District Attorney is currently investigating.
