Man Dies After Being Struck by SUV in Worcester, Police Say

The man, who has not yet been identified, had been in the crosswalk when he was struck, according to Worcester police

A man has died after being stuck by a sport utility vehicle Tuesday night in a Worcester, Massachusetts, crosswalk, police said.

Officers were called to the area of Catharine and Lincoln streets at about 8 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian, according to a Worcester police news release. A 61-year-old Worcester man was lying in the middle of the road.

Suffering from serious injuries, the man was taken to an area hospital, where he died Wednesday morning, police said.

The man, who has not yet been identified, had been in the crosswalk with another man when a black SUV traveling northeast on Lincoln Street struck him, police said. The other man was not hurt.

The driver of the SUV was also not hurt and stopped to help the victim, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
