A Massachusetts man who allegedly stabbed his father, mother and girlfriend at their home in Acton last week has been charged with murder after his father died from his injuries Tuesday, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
Authorities said 57-year-old John DiCristina, died as a result of the Oct. 4 altercation with his son, Benjamin DiCristina.
The 25-year-old appeared in Concord District Court on Friday on two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery and strangulation in connection with stabbing his parents and his 28-year-old girlfriend at their home on Haynes Court.
His mother told police she woke up to him screaming, standing over his girlfriend with his hands around her neck. The police report says that during the assault Benjamin DiCristina was screaming about how he was possessed by demons and people were telling him to kill his girlfriend.
Prosecutors said Benjamin DiCristina stabbed his father numerous times in the neck with scissors, stabbed his mother in the head and his girlfriend in the chest. His mother suffered superficial injuries, and his girlfriend suffered more serious injuries. His father had remained hospitalized in critical condition.
Authorities said one of the female victims was able to call 911 during the attack.
When officers arrived and asked Benjamin DiCristina if he understood his Miranda rights, he replied “Yes, I’m a murderer,” according to the police report.

Prosecutors said Benjamin DeCristina had visited a hospital with his parents on Wednesday because of previous issues.
Benjamin DiCristina is currently being held without bail and has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
The district attorney said he is expected to be arraigned on all the charges when he appears in Concord District Court on Oct. 25 for a status hearing.
