2 Fenway Officers Nearly Struck by OUI Driver

Two Fenway Park officers were nearly struck by an erratic driver Wednesday who was later arrested for operating under the influence.

Shortly after 11 p.m., officers on foot noticed a Ford Explorer driving erratically on Brookline Avenue. They attempted to halt the driver several times and were nearly hit twice, according to Boston police.

Additional units were dispatched and were able to stop the driver.

John Jumper, 58, of Boston, was arrested and is facing charges that include OUI, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, operating to endanger, refusal to submit and operating after suspension or revocation.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
