Fire at Lawrence Apartment Building Displaces 36

A fire at an apartment building in Lawrence, Massachusetts, sent thick black plumes of smoke into the sky Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze displaced 36 people from six apartments, the city's mayor said.

No one was hurt but the building on Summer Street was damaged.

Firefighters believe the blaze, still under investigation Wednesday night, was accidental. It began in the back of the building and engulfed a deck on the third floor.
