Fire in Boston's South End Displaces Eight

A fire in Boston's South End neighborhood displaced eight people Friday night but fortunately no one was injured.

The fire broke out shortly after 9 p.m. at 375 Columbus Avenue. Boston fire officials report the blaze broke out on the first floor but arriving firefighters quickly put it out.

Five adults and three children were temporarily displaced from the six story building. Fire officials report there was extensive water and smoke damage.

Fire officials estimated the damage at $250,000.
